Sooji halwa is a simple yet delicious and yummy sweetened semoline fried in ghee and garnished with nuts. Its also popularly known as Kesari bath in the south region and Sheera in the northern region of India. In this video I have shown the recipe of Sooji ka halwa. This Sooji ka halwa is a popular recipe. Sooji ka halwa is served as breakfast and dessert specially in Punjab. It is also known as Sweet. This Suji ka halwa by Zoobia Farooq is very simple and easy to follow.

Ingredients

1/2 cup Butter/Ghee

1/2 cup Mixed nuts and raisins

to taste Saffron(optional)

1 cup Sooji(also called Rava,Semolina or Farina)

1 cup Sugar

2 1/2 cup Water or milk

Directions

• Melt Ghee in a heavybottomed pan.Add nuts and then raisins and roast until very lightly colored and the raisins swell.Now add sooji and roast on low flame heat until lightly colored and fragrant.Add sugar and water/milk and increase heat to meduim-When most of the water is absorbed, add a pinch of salt and saffron if using.Stir in gently and cover with a lid-Cover and rest for a few minutes before serving
