Steam Sweet Potato Recipe. Let's see how to cook sweet potatoes without losing vitamins. Generally we steam it in water or in a cooker, this will change the taste. Sweet potatoes need to be washed first. Soak them for a minimum of 1/2 hour and wash them so that no dirt is left. Take a cooker or a bowl with thick base. Place the sweet potatoes one by one. Choose the sweet potatoes that are thin, they will be tastier. Take a bowl that is a bit deep. This will act as the lid of the cooker. The lid needs to be deep since we need to pour water in it. Put the lid on and pour water in it. Put it on low flame. Cook for 15 to 20 minutes. Cook on low flame only. Check after 15 minutes after poking it with a knife. Check for softness and cook for some more time or cut off the stove. Flip the sweet potatoes if they are too thick. Cook for 5 more minutes and open the lid. Check by poking with a knife again and cut off the stove. We don't even need to add salt to these sweet potatoes, they will become sweet automatically. Serve by peeling off the skin or by cutting them into pieces.
