Potato Donuts Recipe. If you've never made Spudnuts before, you are in for a real treat! This recipe is fail-proof! So simple to put together, and these donuts taste delicious. Potato Doughnut Spudnuts Recipe - Some people would call this a spudnut recipe, others a Yankee Potato Doughnut recipe; no matter what you call this potato doughnut recipe its origin is murky. On the day we filmed this recipe; Wikipedia says that the recipe originated in the early 1900s and was first published in 1938 in New England. This recipe is from 1915 and was published in Canada, so the Wiki story doesn't add up. I looked back farther and found this recipe in newspapers across the U.S. as early as 1877 - so the recipe goes back, way back. It probably originates in the early 1800s, but that will take more research.
Ingredients:
10 gm Fresh Coriander (chopped)
Salt (As Needed)
½ TBSP Cumin Powder
½ TBSP Red Chili Crushed
½ TBSP Red Chili Powder
½ TSP Garam Masala Powder
½ TBSP Chaat Masala
½ TBSP Coriander Powder
1 KG Potatoes (Boiled & Mashed)
Cooking Oil (As Needed)
Bread Crumbs (As Needed)
Preparation:
2. Next, Take a bowl, add Potatoes (Boiled & Mashed). Then add the grinded mixture which we have prepared Ingredients. mix them again with the help of your hands & keep this mixture aside
3. It’s time to make potato doughnuts. Apply some cooking oil at your hands & make round shape cutlets from the mixture which we have prepared in previous step. Place a round cut in these round cutlets to make doughnuts
4. Dip these into bread crumbs
5. Finally, add Cooking Oil in a pan. Put the round shaped doughnuts into this oil and fry them at low flame until they changed into golden brown
6. Tasty Potato doughnuts are ready to serve
